ABSTRACT

The purpose of the article is to buil a brief archeological analysis of the notion of brazilian modernist anthropophagy, based on the Michel Foucault's methodology (2008). It starts of publication from the anthropophagic manifesto of Oswald de Andrade, in 1928, considering its reinterpretation in tropicalismo in the late 1960s until reaching contemporany. The archaelogical path anthropophagic though in Brazilian cultural field demonstrates diferrent apropiations, sometimes serving the interests of capital, in the form of na uncritical flexible subjectivity, as pointed out by Suely Rolnik (2021). The contemporaray crisis of the anthropocene, aggravated by the pandemic of Covid-19, created, however, new conditions of listening and visibility for the indigenous discourse, giving new meaning to the figure of the thecnized barbarian metioned by Andrade (2011) in his manifesto. The space for ontologies of indigenous matrix resonates whit a popular brazilianness of non domesticated forms of existence that pose as political resistence, even though this takes place on the basis of the resurgence of violence Against these population. We tried to think about the interdiscursive presence of antropofagia in these practices and discourses of resistance, includind from past mistakes.

ABSTRACT

This paper introduces FIGHT, a dataset containing 63,450 tweets, posted before and after the official declaration of Covid-19 as a pandemic by online users in Portugal. This resource aims at contributing to the analysis of online hate speech targeting the most representative minorities in Portugal, namely the African descent and the Roma communities, and the LGBTQ+ community, the most commonly reported target of hate speech in social media at the European context. We present the methods for collecting the data, and provide insightful statistics on the distribution of tweets included in FIGHT, considering both the temporal and spatial dimensions. We also analyze the availability over time of tweets targeting the aforementioned communities, distinguishing public, private, and deleted tweets. We believe this study will contribute to better understand the dynamics of online hate speech in Portugal, particularly in adverse contexts, such as a pandemic outbreak, allowing the development of more informed and accurate hate speech resources for Portuguese.

ABSTRACT

This article links the concept of uncertainty to rural territories, tourism and the current pandemic situation. Its main objective is to reflect on the development of rural tourism in Portugal in the context of uncertainty, marked by COVID-19, doing so from an evolutionary perspective in time and space, based on specialized literature, official statistics and questionnaire surveys. In particular, it is intended to show that uncertainty is an intrinsic condition of the rural environment and of tourism itself, with which they have coexisted, but which is exacerbated in the particular context of the pandemic crisis. Despite the strong territorial and sectoral impact, this crisis has provided a range of challenges and opportunities stimulated, precisely, by this underlying uncertainty.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to build a brief archaeological analysis of the notion of Brazilian modernist anthropophagy, based on the methodology of Michel Foucault. We depart from the publication of Oswald de Andrade's manifesto in 1928, considering its redefinition in tropicalism in the late 1960s until it reached the contemporary. The archaeological path of anthropophagic thinking in the Brazilian cultural field demonstrates different appropriations, sometimes serving the interests of capital, in the form of an uncritical flexible subjectivity, as pointed out by Suely Rolnik. The contemporary crisis of the Anthropocene, aggravated by the covid 19 pandemic, created, however, new conditions of listening and visibility for the indigenous discourse, giving new meaning to the figure of the technized barbarian alluded to by Oswald in his manifesto. The space for the ontologies of indigenous matrix resonates with a popular mixed Brazilianity of the quilombola nuclei, of non-domesticated forms of existence, which are placed as political resistance, even if this occurs on the increase of violence against these populations. We try to think about the interdiscursive presence of anthropophagy in these practices and discourses of resistance, including from past errors.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to understand the meaningful attitudes of alcoholic men and their expressions of feelings in the face of family and community interactions in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study, based on the Oral History of Life method. The participants of this study were five men who experience alcoholism, living in a municipality in the state of Bahia, accompanied by the Psychosocial Care Center for alcohol and other drugs. A semi-structured interview was used to collect information, from March to April 2021, through videoconferences through the Google Meet Digital Platform. The content of the oral reports was analyzed using a content analysis technique. It was observed that the significant attitudes of the alcoholic man were impacted by the unfolding of the pandemic, mainly due to the adoption of sanitary measures, such as social distancing. Some expressions of feelings were also identified of these men facing family and community interactions during the pandemic, such as fear, distrust, and affective insecurity, and social exclusion, in addition to expressions such as faith, gratitude, and hope. The participants' discourses expressed attitudes of changes in social life and habits during this pandemic period, including the use of masks and gel alcohol in addition to the decrease in alcohol consumption for most of them. Therefore, the symbolic interactions arising from the pandemic scenario promoted protective attitudes that encompass self-care and collective care, in addition to interactions marked by family conflicts. © 2022 Centro Universitario Sao Camilo. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Some children can develop severe forms of SARS-CoV-2 infection either acutely or later. To identify the risk factors for worse outcomes in hospitalized children and adolescents with severe acute SARS-CoV-2 infection and MIS-C METHOD: This multicenter cohort study included all children and adolescents with confirmed or suspected critical SARSCoV- 2 infection admitted to the three PICU between April 2020 and September 2021. The exclusion criteria were immunocompromised status, and end-of-life decision. The main variables analyzed were epidemiological, clinical, and laboratory data, and ventilator settings at admission and after 72 h. The patients were divided into three groups (G): confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS- C) criteria (G1), confirmed COVID-19 without MIS-C criteria (G2), and MIS-C criteria without confirmed COVID-19. RESULT(S): The median age of the patients was 28 months in G1, with comorbidities in 40 patients (72.7%) (p < 0.0001). Moreover, invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) was required in 44 patients (80%, p < 0.0001), and cardiogenic shock occurred in 26 patients (54.2%, p < 0.0001) in G1.Under nutrition (< 2 SD for weight), longer exposure time (odds ratio [OR]: 2.11;95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.37-3.25;p = 0.001), IMV time (OR: 2.6;95% CI: 1.15-5.85;p = 0.03), and length of hospital stay (OR: 10.94;95% CI: 1.93-63.1;p = 0.007) were associated with critical MIS-C in G1. CONCLUSION(S): In the Brazilian Amazon area, specifically in the Para state, we identified a cluster of more severe forms of pediatric acute or late SARS-CoV-2 infection. (Figure Presented).

ABSTRACT

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 infection may lead to the development of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Scarce data is available regarding safety and efficacy of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in IBD patients, which may present differences between subgroups. Lower immunological response could require an additional booster injection. Aims & Methods: Prospective study including adult patients with IBD after complete vaccination against SARS-COV-2 infection with BioNTech vaccine. Patients with previous SARS-COV-2 infection were excluded. A control group with healthy individuals matched for age and sex was also analyzed. Blood samples were collected 30 days after complete vaccination to quantify IgG antibody titers against SARS-CoV-2 in both groups. Result(s): Final sample included 81 IBD and 32 non-IBD patients, 55(48.7%) of them females, with a mean age of 40.2+/-13.0 years. From IBD patients, 58(71.6%) had CD and 23(28.4%) UC. IBD patients had significantly lower median anti-SARS-COV-2 IgG levels when compared to the control group (6479, IQR-10053 vs 13061, IQR-15539 AU/mL;p=0.003). Regarding IBD medication, significant lower levels of SARS-COV-2 IgG antibodies when compared to controls where observed in patients under thiopurines (5423, IQR-10260 AU/mL;p=0.011);methotrexate (834, IQR-4155 AU/mL;p=0.002);infliximab (5294, IQR-10392 AU/mL;p=0.001);and corticosteroids (548, IQR-n/a AU/mL;p=0.001). The incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection after vaccination was also significantly higher in each of these treatments - healthy controls 25% vs thiopurines 50% (p=0.025), infliximab 43.8% (p=0.048), methotrexate 75% (p=0.041) and corticosteroids 100% (p=0.027). Conclusion(s): IBD patients under Immunomodulators, infliximab and corticosteroid treatment presented significantly lower anti-SARS-COV-2 IgG levels 30 days following complete vaccination when compared to healthy controls. These findings could support the benefit of an additional booster injection in this population.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to present exploratory and descriptive research about Latin America's online information search and Twitter activity and the repercussions of chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, and ivermectin, which were at the time considered promising alternatives to prevent or treat COVID-19. From the perspective of Webmetrics and Altmetrics -data were collected and analysed from Twitter around indexed outputs by titles with one of these three drugs and from Google Trends (Relative Search Interest) in Latin American countries. The results demonstrated that there might be parallels between Google Search and Twitter activity. The results also showed that ivermectin was, among the three selected drugs, the most searched in Google Search and higher activity on Latin America's Twitter accounts.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we discuss how rural activism in Brazil reacted to the Covid-19 pandemic. We analyze actions of the four main family farming and peasants’ organizations in Brazil along the initial seven months of the pandemic, from March to September 2020: National Confederation of Men and Women Workers in Family Farming in Brazil (Contag), National Confederation of Men and Women Rural Farmer Workers and Family Farmers (Contraf-Brasil), Small Farmers Movement (MPA) and Landless Workers Movement (MST). Data sources are the news published on each organization’s websites. In order to understand how the pandemic impacted some of their preexisting practices, we propose a typology composed of five forms of action: donation, advocacy, alternative markets, direct action and informational action © Este é um artigo publicado em acesso aberto (Open Access) sob a licença Creative Commons Attribution, que permite uso, distribuição e reprodução em qualquer meio, sem restrições desde que o trabalho original seja corretamente citado

ABSTRACT

Background: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus, 2 (SARS-COV-2) infection may lead to the development of the novel coronavirus disease, 2019 (COVID-19). Currently, little to no data is available regarding safety and efficacy of SARS-COV-2 vaccination in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients, which may present differences between subgroups, as these patients may exhibit impaired innate and adaptive immune system responses. Lower immunological response could, in this specific population, require an additional booster injection. Methods: We conducted a prospective study including adult patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) who have undergone complete vaccination against SARS-COV-2 infection with BioNTech® vaccine. Patients with previous SARS-COV-2 infection were excluded. Medical data regarding age, sex, IBD classification and current medication for IBD were collected. A control group with healthy individuals matched for age and sex was also analyzed. Blood samples were collected, 30 days after complete vaccination to quantify IgG antibody titers for SARS-COV-2 in both groups (IBD and non-IBD). Results: Our final sample included, 81 IBD and, 32 non-IBD patients, 55 (48.7%) of them females, with a mean age of, 40.2±13.0 years. From the IBD patients, 58(71.6%) had CD and, 23(28.4%) had UC. IBD patients had significantly lower anti-SARS-COV-2 IgG levels when compared to the control group (8950±9366 vs, 14834±11679 AU/mL;p=0.003). Regarding IBD medication, significant lower levels of SARS-COV-2 IgG antibodies when compared to control patients were found in patients under thiopurines (9074±9779 AU/mL;p=0.011);methotrexate (1987±2568 AU/mL;p=0.002);infliximab (7208±7276 AU/ mL;p=0.001);and corticosteroids (1065±933 AU/mL;p=0.001). Additionally, patients under combined therapy (infliximab plus thiopurines) presented with significantly lower antibodies titers when compared to patients treated with thiopurines in monotherapy (8130±11048 vs, 10563±5680 AU/mL;p=0.039). No significant differences were found in IBD patients under salicylates (10195±7371 AU/mL;p=0.226);adalimumab (15644±21467 AU/mL;p=0.336);vedolizumab (10464±9087 AU/mL;p=0.286) and ustekinumab (11366±10016 AU/mL;p=0.390). Conclusion: IBD patients presented with significantly lower anti- SARS-COV-2 IgG levels, 1 month after complete vaccination against SARS-COV-2 infection compared to healthy controls. Thiopurines, methotrexate, infliximab and corticosteroid treatment were associated with significantly lower antibodies levels. These findings may express the benefit of an additional booster injection in this population.

ABSTRACT

Virtual Environments (VE) are used more and more for the treatment of phobias. The therapy using VE is starting to be a way of treatment of several types of phobias for people with obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD). People with OCD experience intrusive, unwanted thoughts that cause an increased amount of anxiety and intentional repetitive behaviors that decrease anxiety. The advantage of using a VE to experience and challenge compulsions is that it allows the user to imagine taking the risk without taking a risk. This is also true for the games, where players can face challenges without consequences in real life. This paper presents a virtual reality serious game for OCD therapy. The main purpose of this game is to serve as a tool to expose the patients to stimuli that can trigger OCD symptoms, for example, cleaning, checking and tidying. The game is more oriented for adolescents and younger adults with OCD because this public is more related to new technologies. In addition, OCD affects younger subjects, accompanying them throughout adulthood, generating a very accentuated degree of disability in their routines. A preliminary evaluation of the game was realised with a group of specialists and the results were positive. An evaluation with patients was not yet possible due to Covid-19 restrictions. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

With the advent of the new coronavirus pandemic, social media is playing an important role in communication. The aim of this article was to analyze the publications on Instagram (R) of the Federal Council of Physical Education during the pandemic, emphasizing the activities of dissemination and communication with physical education professionals and the general population to combat the coronavirus. Netnographic research was used, with a quanti-qualitative analysis of the publications. From the beginning of the pandemic to July 1st 2021, 96 posts were made on the social network. Of these, 53 were linked to the pandemic. The physical education professionals' demand for assistance from the Council during this period was verified as well as the content of the publications with the biomedical perspective of health. Furthermore, in the first half of 2021, there was a significant reduction in publications involving the pandemic, the period in which the country reached its highest death toll. Although there is vast information reinforcing the importance of physical exercises at this time and exercises suggestions, more collective approaches were expected from the Council to health and intensification of the dissemination about the care needed to face the pandemic, such as vaccination.

ABSTRACT

There is a general notion that the COVID pandemic has made access to adequate health care difficult. A retrospective study looked at patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) admitted to a hospital, including the time between admission and diagnosis, the time until treatment, and the delay in transferring to a hospital with a catheterization laboratory in the case of ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI).The period analysed was March to July 2019 and March to July 2020 (first Covid pandemic wave). 197 patients, 101 in 2019 (SCA19) and 96 in 2020 (SCAcov), 142 males (72%) mean age 67.3±12.6. It was observed in 2019 29 STEMI and 72 acute myocardial infarct without ST elevation (NSTEMI) na 2020 36 STEMI and 60 NSTEMI, this proportions didn't achieve statistical meaning χ2(1)=1.719, p=0.226. When compared SCA19 versus SCAcov there were no differences between groups in relation to demographic data. The clinical presentation (none, hemodynamic instability, refractory pain, arrhythmia, mechanic complication, acute heart failure) not varied between groups χ2(6)=3.42, p=0.755. When analysed, between SCA19 and SCAcov, there were no significant time difference between the admission and the electrocardiogram execution (MSCA19 = 44.78;MSCAcov = 56.84;Tweich (132.66) = -0.73, p=0.476 g Hedge = 0.71, between time of admission and time of diagnosis MSCA19 = 264.84;MSCAcov = 254.2;Tweich (188.81) = -0.34, p=0.731 g Hedge = 0.05, and the duration of hospitalization MSCA19 = 5.90;MSCAcov = 5.78 U=9400, Z=-0.263, p<0.792. Conclusion: In COVID times even with the all restrictions and contingencies lived in hospitals our results pointed to no significant changes in the variables analysed. Interestingly, in spite of no significant difference, a slightly more delay in ECG execution, higher prevalence of STEMI but a short time of diagnosis were observed.

ABSTRACT

The current, complex and dynamic society is organized based on sophisticated technologies that simultaneously integrate spaces and times. However, we found the school in a standardized and hardened format, with unmotivated students. Thus, the need arose to develop an interdisciplinary methodology based on art classes, aiming at meaningful learning, where the student used digital technologies together with creativity and collaboration to be prepared to solve everyday challenges. To this end, the present study opted for action research and had students from elementary schools from Rio de Janeiro as participants. The qualitative approach included bibliographic, exploratory preliminary research and the development, application, and evaluation of a didactic sequence focused on interdisciplinarity. Digital technologies facilitated the communication that enabled the project to take place entirely in a virtual way during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Collaborative work, on the other hand, expanded the action of the participants and enabled the development of creativity, which was fundamental in the organization of the process, creating solutions for the integration between disciplines. At the end of the study, it was noticed that the students were more confident and motivated, taking responsibility for their studies and serving as inspiration for each other.

ABSTRACT

Brazil’s e-commerce system has changed around insecurity and low-quality delivery, not being efficient and effective. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Brazilian population was forced to leave insecurity and use e-commerce. But are the significant issues resolved? How do people shop online? What does the Brazilian market like when shopping online? In what ways do Brazilians use e-commerce? Has behavior changed? These are the critical aspects of this study. In an online survey of convenience, a probability sample conducted using a snowball method. The survey pointed out that the acceleration of e-commerce shows the urgency to ensure that the country can better use e-commerce to take advantage of the digitalization opportunities and help the government in its economic recovery. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

How far can a whole social routine be transformed after the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic? It is possible that it has impacted human factors and ergonomics, such as sleep, physical activity, mental health and activities of daily living. It is necessary to focus on society currently, and to determine new forms of interaction in search of a better quality of life. The objective of this work is to determine the extent the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 influenced human behavior in relation to style and quality of life, whether or not imposing new routines, and whether these, such as these, may impact the change of a society. To better understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on society, human factors variables were raised, and a survey study, where several people were able to answer and share their experiences in the midst of the restrictions of the pandemic when answering an online questionnaire. The research seeks by asking questions to the target audience on variables related to the home environment, employment situation, work routine and health in general. In addition, the research explores symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as sleep, wakefulness, and physical activity levels. There is a need for a new direction in research to monitor the changes across society, seeking a vision of a new society, which emerges in the face of a disruptive period, which impacts the entire planet. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
